We build a spiral, and we are at the center. Even though we may think that external circumstances cause our moods (external indifference causes despair, external delay causes our impatience, and so on), our moods depend instead on how we choose to react to them.

We live as if we were still in the earthly paradise. We have all kinds of fruit trees around us, and we can choose. Despair, depression and so on are the only fruits we want to try. We are free to try anything, good or bad. We are free to cause suffering and also to build our prisons.

Normally, we take into account not only the forces that disturb us with violent emotions, but also the lighter vibrations that help us grow. Everything we do is always a mirror that reflects our choices.

As people say, everything is within us. This is because these emotional forces surround us. We have to learn how to use them, instead of being at their mercy. We have to learn how to observe what is happening inside us.

The Spiral of Life in an Introspective Painting

My introspective painting — like other things we do — comes from the expansion of an inner movement, even if we don’t realize it.

People who look at introspective art may get a positive or negative impression: it depends on what is moving within them.

What some people see is just a mirror in which they can see a distorted image of their failures, unsolved problems, painful experiences…

Or they can see it as an incentive for what they want to do.

A painting is just an object with which our internal movements can interact.

We live under the influence of the weather, the colors, the landscape and the surrounding people; we can use all these things to excite or to dampen our emotional vibrations. Everything begins and develops within us.

Looking Inward — Inner Movements Change the Outer Reality

It is important to remember that we are the center of all things that move around us (the spiral of life). When something changes inside, the outer reality changes accordingly.
The leitmotif of some of my paintings emphasizes how an inner movement changes the outer reality: it is a SPIRAL MOVEMENT that starts from us.

If we look inward (and psychology can confirm this!), we find that our moods are not caused by external movements, but by how we choose to deal with these stimuli. Understanding this concept with the mind is not enough. We should become aware of it.

These are the inner forces that we put into action.

Our anxieties and fears can turn that path into a drama, even if our partners have made the same choices as we have. Our encounters are not predestined… ”Power games

3. “Personality acts in spite of us. It is as if we have entrusted our lives to it. We are no longer free to choose. It will face whatever happens in our place, and it will cause us to make the same choices over and over again. We have become predictable.
Occasionally, we notice that we are repeating ourselves, but we say to ourselves, ‘I am that way!’… ”Inner mechanisms
